1. What inspired you to get into this industry?
I'm not your "typical model" I'm not super tall and super skinny. That right there, that's what inspires me. Models come in all different shapes, sizes, colors, and sex and they are all beautiful in their own way. Once I let that sink in and stopped comparing myself to "typical models" and telling myself I could never be a model is when I feel I truly fell in love with the industry and myself as a model. I'm 5'6 I have thick thighs, a big butt, tattoos, pale skin, jet black hair, and baby blue eyes, that's my look and what makes me a beautiful model. I want to see how far I can go as not your "typical model".
2. How long have you been modeling?
I shot for the first time a little over a year ago when another model Sam asked me to shoot.
3. Who is your favorite model?
Oh jeez. Soooo many but my new model crushes are... Abigail Ratchford, Kelsie Jean Smeby, and Tara Lynn.
4. Were you always comfortable in your own skin and in front of the camera?
I have lived most of my life uncomfortable in my own skin. So when I first started modeling the camera intimidated me, I was terrified of it. I would stare into the lens thinking "I'm really a model, how is this possible?". It's taken a long time for me to truly have full self confidence and to be comfortable with myself, I wont deny that for a second.
5. Did you have any mentors who really helped mold and guide you?
Throughout my one year in the industry I have had a lot of push and pull by wonderfully talented people, and I'm honestly beyond words thankful for the opportunities I've been blessed with. But there are two people who truly stand out more then anyone and I have to give it to them for dealing with me basically 24/7 even when I'm a sassy little Devil. To Emily and Asime, my mentors, my photographer, my makeup artist, my sisters, my glue, you two are everything. First off I want to say I love you from the bottom of my heart and thank you for being a constant part of my journey. I could go on about each of you separately for days but I must keep it short and sweet. Thank you for the support, the love, the shoulders to cry on, the opinions, the long talks, the endless phone calls and face times, the hair and makeup, the photographs, pushing me, the planning of my next move, the traveling, the packing, the road trips, the waking up early or barely sleeping, last but not least thank you for being you and believing in me.
6. Do you have any tips for aspiring models in the industry?
Be confident, be you. Remember every model is different, you are not like the model standing next to you. Don't try to be the model next to you ever, be the model you are and realize every model is beautiful.
7. Do you have a WTF moment at a shoot?
I now think WTF when I think about all the times I was at a shoot and I didn't fully let loose in front of the camera. I held back because I was holding myself back because I was lacking self confidence.
8. What are some of the biggest revelations you've discovered through modelling?
My biggest revelation thus far in modeling is what to think about or place in your mind while shooting. I let my mind get lost on replay with wild thoughts and I just go to work. Since doing such I have seen improvement in my work.
9. Tell us something random about yourself.
So I have this person in my life I hold very close to my heart. A friend, a special friend who has been there my whole life. Since the young age of 10 he has watched me grow, mature, fail, succeed, laugh, cry, hit rock bottom, climb up from rock bottom, be a dork going through puberty, blossom, absolutely everything. Friend you have truly helped me through this world of sin more then you would ever know. You have accepted me always for me, the real me, no matter what and you taught me how to be confident in myself. I am forever grateful to have been blessed with such a beautiful human being as a life long best friend. Mimzy, I wanna tell the world about you so they can get jealous, you mad kid?
10. What are you most proud of?
I'm most proud of not giving up on myself and creating this fire. The fire that stays burning inside of me everyday is to make it. The horrible things horrible people try to do or say to dim my fire does not dim it. In fact it fuels it. I'm proud to say this fire can not and will not go out, it will stay lit, I will stay lit.
11. When it's all said and done, what do you want to be remembered as?
I want to always be remembered as the girl who came from nothing, but isn't nothing. I fought and worked hard and never gave up, not once. Always remember. #shannoneliizabethtakeover
