SKYN: What inspired you to get into this industry?

TB: As a Personal Trainer I always enjoyed taking photos and videos of myself but never really thought about Fitness Modelling. When I finally decided to do my first fitness photo shoot I did it with the purpose of building my brand "Curves by Tina". Days leading up to it, I remember studying my favorite fitness models like Michelle Lewin and Lauren Simpson, and thinking to myself can I actually do this and look like these girls.

On the day of the shoot I expected I'd be shy and nervous, but I ended up being the total opposite. I really had fun shooting and working with the photographer and creating awesome images! I understood that this was a job and that I needed to deliver! There was no room for shyness or holding back and, the best part, I had a blast doing it and wanted to shoot more ever since.

SKYN: Were you always comfortable in your own skin and in front of the camera?

TB: Definitely not! I think each and every one of us has that something we are insecure about. As women, especially, we are constantly bombarded with images of what we should look like and aspire to be and a lot of times these ideas of "beauty" are not realistic. Instagram and other social media can really be negative in this respect and I think it's so important to not try and compare ourselves to others.

When I first started working out I was definitely doing it for the wrong reasons. My goals were wholly extrinsic and, because of that, I often fell into the rut of comparing myself to other girls. But the amazing thing about pursuing the fitness lifestyle is that it teaches you so much about yourself.

Through my journey, I learned to be more comfortable in my own skin, and not just because I achieved a physique I'm proud of, but because it taught me that health is about more than just the outer appearance - it's about how you feel inside your body and mind and being kind, patient and loving towards your self and body. This is what I want to inspire and teach other girls to work towards as well!

SKYN: What are some of the biggest revelations you've discovered through modelling?

TB: The best part about fitness modelling, for me, is that it’s a great showcase of the hard work you put into your body. Every time I do a shoot, I want to look better than I did the last time; I want to see a difference in my physique. It gives you something to work towards and challenge yourself. And the best part, it provides instant gratification when you see what you were able to deliver and allow the photographer to capture on camera!
