1. What inspired you to get into this industry?
Before modelling I was a very shy, quiet girl. I was voluntary police and a university student, I thought that was going to be my life, until a well known photographer sought me out on Instagram and it all began and built up from there. I feel like I’m doing what I should’ve been doing a long time ago.
2. How long have you been modeling?
This is my second year in the industry and I am so amazed how far I have come already!
3. Who is your favorite model?
Denise Richards is my all time favourite model, she has the whole package and I have been compared to her a couple of times which is a massive compliment!
4. Were you always comfortable in your own skin and in front of the camera?
Absolutely not! As I stated before, I was very shy and it took me months to get comfortable in front of the camera. Modelling has given me the confidence I needed and now I can model wearing little to nothing and doesn’t phase me in the slightest. I’d definitely recommend modelling to those who lack confidence and you will see how great you really look!
5. Did you have any mentors who really helped mold and guide you?
Of course I have amazing parents behind me who are my number 1 fans! There are many photographers and fellow models who have guided me throughout my journey which I’m really thankful for, I couldn’t have done it without all their support. I have had the occasional hate from other models also, but that is what drives me to become bigger and better with each year!
6. Do you have any tips for aspiring models in the industry?
Always look after yourself! Look after your body, skin and hair! And always be yourself, don’t try to ever be something you are not, you won’t succeed that way. Stay true to yourself and take care of your body and mind, photographers will want to shoot with a positive person with a great personality. And always be mindful of what direction you want to go with the modelling, work with photographers who you feel will benefit your portfolio.
7. Do you have a WTF moment at a shoot?
I don’t really have an amazing WTF moment on a shoot, but on two occasions of using a particular studio, I walked passed the first floor of a building and it stank of weed! In one of the rooms, a band was practicing and obviously smoking weed. They asked me inside and offered me one which I stated it wasn’t my scene and I’m ex police - ha ha! Two of the guys were trying to get my number instead and I just stated I was here to work and not to get a date!
8. What are some of the biggest revelations you've discovered through modelling?
I think the biggest revelation I’ve discovered is the amount models actually get paid for their work! Getting money from this industry is not an easy one and quite often, models also have part time or even full time jobs for financial security. I was shocked at how many girls I have previously worked with were on 100’s of k followers and still had day jobs. It shows how social media can have influence on people today.
9. Tell us something random about yourself.
I don’t know why, but when I have no shoes on I walk on my tiptoes or walk very lightly. Its strange because I’ve never done ballet, but I lead people to believe I have dancing experience!
Also, my first language is Welsh and am therefore bilingual. I am also fairly competent in French as I studied it in A Level at school.
10. What are you most proud of?
I’ve had many moments when I have been proud of my achievements, but by far the most I have been proud of myself has to be when I became a special constable for North Wales Police. Getting sworn into the police service was very surreal and I was so young at the time, it felt like a dream come true!
11. When it's all said and done, what do you want to be remembered as?
One day I would like to be known as one of the biggest petite models in the industry. I will be working harder next year to make this dream a reality! I also want to be known for my geeky but fun loving personality and I hope people will get to see this side of me very soon!
12. Any last words?
I have recently done an international modelling tour in LA and worked with around 12 photographers in 14 days. It was very full on but I had a great experience and met so many amazing people, I would definitely do it again and plan on doing something similar in the states again next year. This feature is one of the shoots I did during my tour and is also one of my favourites!
