We’ve all been there, whether it’s directly, indirectly, through association – it’s always been there, a looming cloud in all of our lives. Bullying.

It’s odd because in a society that claims to be so accepting and diverse, we’re still one that tolerates excluding, ridiculing, and judging people – often based off those same unique characteristics that we all claim to celebrate.

When 70% of reported bullying is endured because people either look or act differently, you know something’s off. No matter your age, your size, your weight, your ethnicity, or anything in between – it seems as if no one is safe, and that just isn’t right. Aren’t we the generation that claims to be accepting and tolerant, diverse and proud? Yet if that is the case, then why do we still tolerate it, accept it, deal with it, swallow it, and participate in it? Because with stats like that it’s clear that somebody’s doing it. And with odds like that, chances are, it’s someone you know.

That’s why it’s so cool that The Safe School Network is taking a stand with their new Stand Together campaign that hopes to put an end to all this. Because it’s time we all stood up to put an end to bullying.

The Canadian Safe Schools Network is a not-for-profit organization that aims to bring an end to youth violence and hopes to be able to help every single child flourish and grow into the amazing and unique individuals that they are. On May 11th they launched their “Stand Together” campaign as a way to make schools safer, to raise awareness on the harsh realities of bullying, and to ultimately put an end to bullying altogether.

Teaming up with YoSox, a wicked Toronto based sock brand, they created these dope “Stand Together” socks that not only make a statement, but have a message too. With 4 varieties of these colourful socks, there’s sure to be a pair to entice everyone, and with a portion of the proceeds going straight to The Canadian Safe Schools Network anti-bullying programs, you can’t help but love them.

It’s time to step up, and get yourself a pair to see just what happens when you stand up.
