1. What inspired you to get into this industry?

I always knew I wanted to be a model, I just wasn’t sure how to go about it. I always loved the art and creativty of photography. I am a licensed cosmetologist and make up artist. So, as much as I love to glam others, I also have a passion for being infront of the camera. Being able to express myself is something really sexy and empowering to me.

2. How long have you been modeling?

I’ve been modeling since I was about 17. So 7 years. Before modeling, I attended college and then got my license for master cosmetology at the Aveda Institute of Atlanta. I was approached in beauty school to shoot for a clothing line and it just all blossomed from there.

3. Who is your favorite model?

Marilyn Monroe! I love her. I love the fact that she wasn’t a super stick skinny model and had a more realistic figure. I think that made her a lot more relatable to a lot of women. Curves are sexy and she definitely proved that.

4. Were you always comfortable in your own skin and in front of the camera?

Yes and no. I’ve always felt very at ease in front of the camera. There are definitely days where we all have our insecurities, but you have to learn to love yourself and be ok in your own skin. I must say, I am most comfortable shooting lingerie or implied. It comes most natural for me. I do remember my first shoot though, and I will admit I was a little nervous. I look back and think to myself, woahhh things have changed haha.

5. Did you have any mentors who really helped mold and guide you?

My parents. I can’t think them enough for always believing in me even when I wanted to just throw the towel in and say I’m done. My family is my life and my parents are my biggest fans. They’re very supportive of everything I’ve done and keep me wanting to push myself. They know how much I love modeling and keep me striving to do the next best move.

6. Do you have any tips for aspiring models in the industry?

As glamorous as it looks, it can be really exhausting. There’s always a lot of pressure to be keeping up with yourself and to stay looking a certain way. People will always have something to say and give their opinions. You have to except that not everyone is going to be a fan and you can’t make everyone like you. It can be a very competitive/tough industry, but rewarding at the same time. At the end of the day, you just have to remind yourself to stay true to yourself and block out all the unnecessary negativity that can come along with it. Be strong and stay focused on you!

7. Do you have a WTF moment at a shoot?

Well one time I was at a shoot and the photographer wanted me to get in this swamp. I looked at him like he was crazy and said oh absolutely not. I think I actually started laughing because I thought it was such a crazy idea. Who the f**** shoots in a swamp?! There is nothing cute or sexy about that lmao.

8. What are some of the biggest revelations you've discovered through modelling?

I have learned that modeling is much more challenging than it’s made out to be. A lot of people think, oh you don’t do much besides sit there and look pretty, but it’s actually a little more draining than it seems. People will make jokes all the time saying “oh must be nice! Such a rough life you have”. But it can be emotionally exhausting always trying keep fans happy. Not everyone is going to dig your style, which at first was hard for me to accept, but I’ve learned to just deal with it. It’s taught me to carry myself with confidence and to be stronger person.

9. Tell us something random about yourself.

As crazy as this sounds, I won’t date a guy if his zodiac sign is not compatible with mine-lmao

10. What are you most proud of? : I’ve been on a number of magazine covers, but my most proud moment was being on the cover of Maxim Africa.

11. When it's all said and done, what do you want to be remembered as?

I’d like to be remembered for being kind. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been known to be a little sassy and stubborn at times, but I always try to treat others how I want to be treated.
