On Thursday May, 12th, CANFAR'S THirty Under Thirty (30/Thirty) Committee hosted an amazing fundraising event at The Boat in Kensington Market. Featuring sounds the sounds of West of Indie, The Steady Rebels, and Gestures, the venue was afire with sounds of modern rock meets reggae with an alternative indie rock twist.
Organized by Gillian Forth and Sophie Hamr, the two ladies coordinated, engaged, triviad, and entertained "Boat Goers" long into the wee hours of the evening raising a grand total of $600 for AIDS research!
As a group of 30 twenty-somethings who are passionate about being active and philanthropic members of the community, 30 Under Thirty provides valuable support to the Canadian Foundation for Aids Research (CANFAR) by raising awareness and funds for HIV research. Through social connections and a series of events, 30 Under Thirty strives to involve 30 peers, engage 300 volunteer,s share 3,000 messages of support; raise $30,000; inform 300,000 Canadians, and ultimately #endAIDS.
With exclusive experiences for members, and unique social events for the wider community, it's definitely a dope opportunity for anyone looking for that extra impact.
